Virginia Tech Honors College: Branding & Storytelling
At the Virginia Tech Honors College, the focus was on refreshing the brand and telling a more engaging story about academic life.
The work covered content strategy, storytelling campaigns, newsletters, and a full rebrand, created in close collaboration with admissions and academic teams to support engagement and student recruitment across channels.
An academic brand built to feel open, modern, and human
The Virginia Tech Honors College set out to create a brand that felt more like an invitation than an institution, one that reflected its open, transdisciplinary spirit.
The result was a flexible identity system that captured the Honors College’s energy and openness, bringing programs together without flattening their individual voices. The work spanned the official brand book, storytelling campaigns, and physical installations, all designed to feel modern, cohesive, and full of possibility.
SuperStudio Branding Banner & Feature Story
This project brought the Honors College SuperStudio space to life through both visual storytelling and written narrative.
The work included coordinating a photoshoot of Dr. Joanie Banks-Hunt in the hallway leading into the Honors College Studios, capturing her presence alongside one of the newly designed SuperStudio banners I created. The image anchored a feature story that highlighted Dr. Banks-Hunt’s impact within the Honors College, connecting the physical space to the people and ideas that shape it.
Together, the banner and story helped introduce the SuperStudio as a place defined not just by design, but by the faculty and students who bring it to life.
VT Honors SuperStudio Branding
Building on the SuperStudio banner and feature story, the branding expanded into a full visual system designed to support and promote the new studio space across campus.
I led the visual treatment and graphic design for SuperStudio, creating bright, vibrant banners that not only showcased the identity of the space but also helped students navigate to it. These graphics were designed to build traction around the Honors College, highlight the launch of the SuperStudio, and make the space feel energetic, welcoming, and easy to find.
The branding was then adapted into digital signage to extend its reach beyond the hallway. SuperStudio graphics were displayed in multiple locations across the university, including the Honors College building at Hillcrest Hall, helping introduce the new space to a wider campus audience.
Alongside the visual work, I also wrote stories that introduced the SuperStudio space and initiative, providing context around its purpose and the collaborative, student-driven experiences it supports. Together, the banners, signage, and storytelling worked as a unified system to bring the SuperStudio to life, visually and narratively.
